When I was growing up my Dad would always take me out to find a tree (or come home with one) on my birthday. He had a knack for picking out a goodie--full bodied with no holes or random sticky-outy branches. And it may have been childhood's perspective but I'm sure at least one of them touched the ceiling. :) Fun memories! So 'tree day' is a sweet day still. Nat's now the one who tarps the car (despite the fact that pine needles still manage to get everywhere) and drags the tree of choice onto it's stand. He picked a goodie too.
It was all very exciting for Sophia this year, carols blaring through the house and all. Ahh, December, we love you.

Yes, there may be a little bit of potty training going on, hence the bare cheeks and the occasional exclamation of 'Ah, I dunned a wee!'
It's the traditions that we love, they make it all that much more exciting. As kids we got to open one little gift every Christmas Eve--an ornament for the tree. I have quite a collection now. We thought we'd continue our own version of the tradition with Sophia. She chose her own (and her brother's) this year--a gingerbread, automotive cross. Couldn't be more Sophia.
And there's nothing quite like a strand of fairy lights on a summer evening. :)
Our William is nearly 8 weeks old now. He blows me away. So chilled, so happy. Near constant smiles and chuckles even in the midst of colds and coughs and hospital visits. We are smitten.
And did I mention that he's sleeping 7-8 hours at night already? No thanks to me, this child has just always seemed to know the difference between night and day (and saves up all his sleep for the hours after 10pm). I'm impressed! :)
Sophia was amusing him in the above snaps. Her Thomas trains were doing something unbelievably hilarious.

And that is what our week has consisted of, mostly. Thomas trains, sandpits, parks and bikes and mooching.

We even cranked the swimsuits for the first time this side of the year.
Loving these warmer days!
Be back soon...
