Too long really. Missing this little blog!
I am, however, getting back into the swing of things this week with a picnic quilt creation and an update or two (interspersed with a few random photos).

So this week I bring to you...
One wipeable picnic quilt. Inspired by these little mess mats, but I wanted something a bit bigger, more versatile and less expensive. I just used pieces of leftover fabric to make the quilt and bought some binding and a sheet of clear plastic from Spotlight. Combine with an hour of two of pinning and stitching = a picnic quilt, a play mat, a mess mat.
Top tips? Use safety pins to hold it all together as you sew (it gets quite heavy). And I wanted to run quilting stitches across it but it was too much of a challenge (fabric bunching under the plastic) so I sewed little X's (to hold it all together) in all the corners where four squares meet.

One three year old. We turned a park rendezvous with friends into a low key birthday celebration.

Twirling.

And twirling.

An additional little family celebration with cupcakes. My sister in law took these pics. Note: praying mantis crawling up the side of nephew's head.

And on the day of her birth itself my daughter chose a shiny red car for her gift and wanted to eat off plates with diggers on them (displayed above, in their glory). That's my girl. :)

One summer filled with bubbles, paddling pools, friends and that beloved little pink bike. Oh, and 'racing helmet'.

One kindy girl. Where did those three years go again?

And the best news yet this year: one four month old fully discharged from home care. No more nurse check ups and beepy monitors.

Looking forward to more blogging as these cooler days begin to set in. Don't give up on me yet!
:)
