Mum's Elna. Circa 1970-something. Nothing quite like it, and technology wise, well they just don't make 'em like they used to. I would use this baby over a new model any day. (Don't worry Mum, it's still officially yours, it's just residing here until you claim it back.)

This afternoon the kids and I went on a little outing in to town to visit daddy for a coffee. So yes, I played with this long exposure business a bit more for my 'technology' shot. I'm not a huge fan of the whole selective colour/saturation thing but it's worth giving these things a go at least once I reckon.
A big blue bus drove past. :)
Wow. Talk about amazing and inspiring. If you are interested in photography (and in the Auckland area) you really should pop in and check it out. You can see small images online but they are no where near as striking as the large 'in real life' versions. I fell in love with the photos by the winner of the travel photography category, Dean MacKenzie.
I was surprised to see how heavily edited so many of the photographs were. A lot of them would easily be mistaken for paintings. Ie these landscapes. (Love.)
And my overall favourite image was a winner in the illustrative category (by Jackie Ranken). Breathtaking.
And while I'm in the swing of it I thought I'd share with a few shots by two amazing photographers I have stumbled across on Flickr. Absolutely worth checking these two out...

And Mistybliss. Amazing. She also happens to have two of the most photogenic children in the world. I want to be able to take photos like these one day. The last shots are from a series she has called 'Wordless Sunday'. Which was what originally inspired me to start this linky.
J'adore. My photos look a tinsy bit average after viewing these.

ReplyDeleteYour photos are great but wow those last ones! I'll have to check them out now too. As an ex NZIPP member I can tell you that the IRIS awards are very much fine art photography. Regular (but beautiful) client shoots get entered into the Kodak awards.

Your photos are great! I'd never heard of long exposure either, but it's a cool look! Wow, what beautiful photos from the exhibition, and the other two you mentioned!! I had a look at their websites. Amazing. I was reading some of your earlier blog posts that came up at the end of this one and so happy you bought the camera you were 'saving your pennies' for! At the rate you're going, you'll be producing photos like the ones of those gorgeous kids above, of your own...you have the perfect models at home :) Thanks for sharing all the links...it's fun to be inspired by such beautiful work!

I'M jealous of YOUR pics, and that's an understatement! You've rocked every single one of the challenges, and then some :)

ReplyDeleteOh my, your photographs always blow me away and then those ones you came across are mind-blowing! Thank you for sharing. So inspiring and breath-taking - they really take the viewer on a journey and almost 'speak' with their rich texture, depth and colours.
